Meet Our Specialists

Franklin B. Propert joined Waterford's Art and Antiques Auctioneers in 2014 as the Asian & African Specialist of our Richmond, VA office. Franklin graduated cum laude from Shenandoah Conservatory of music, working for many years as a conductor, singer and teacher. For the past two decades he has been an avid collector of both Asian and African art concentrating on the Dogon and Bamana people of Mali and the Senufo and Baule people of the Ivory Coast. His Asian arts collecting has centered around Chinese ceramics and textiles from the Qing dynasty. He recently presented the exhibition Threads of Silk and Gold at the University of Richmond. Franklin also serves on the planning committee of the Rose Group, a Washington, DC based nonprofit, nonpolitical organization fostering better understanding between the United States and China through the arts.
