Namikawa Yasuyuki (1845-1927) Pair of Dragon Vases
c. 1890, Meiji period. The pair of large Namikawa silver-wire cloisonne vases with silvered rim and floral, zigzag and cloud border to the narrow neck, the tapering bodies depicting an olive or cream colored dragon flying across a black cloisonne ground filled with silver-wire clouds, surrounded by ribbon-like flames, above blue and white crashing waves, with a ring of black, brown and blue lappets encircling the foot ring, the bases with square silver plaques featuring four character Namikawa Yasuyuki mark and old acquisition number inscribed on foot rings, on original wooden stands. The vases approx. 11 by 4 in., 28 by 10 cm.
