Xu Licheng (act. 19th/20th c.) Yixing Zisha Teapot
Late 19th/early 20th century, late Qing dynasty/ early Republican period. The teapot of a squared bell shaped form and flat rectangular pierced cover surmounted with squared loop knob, applied with a squared swan-neck, and squared rectangular "C" handle with curved top flange, one side with molded sixteen character inscription in seal script or zhuanshu, the clay a rich reddish-brown tone, with square zhuanshu "Licheng" artist's seal mark to base and oval clerical or lishu script "Runji" workshop mark to base of lid. From a Montreal collection, previously in the collection of esteemed connoisseur Sha Zhiming. Approx. 5 1/8 by 6 5/8 in., 13 by 17 cm.
