A Monochrome White Dish with Incised Phoenixes
Mid-16th century, Jiajing reign, Ming dynasty. The shallow dish with flared straight short sides and everted straight rim, the interior decorated with finely incised phoenixes and flowers, covered in a translucent white glaze with a very slight bluish tint that pools in the recesses, with six character Jiajing mark incised within a double circle arranged in two lines. Approx. 1/2 by 4 1/2 in. diam., 1.2 by 11.5 cm.
