A Pair of Chinese Famille Jaune Biscuit Vases
18th century, Kangxi period, Qing dynasty. Porcelain four-sided baluster vases with round flaring necks, decorated in famille jaune overglaze enamels to depict birds amidst the flowers of the four seasons on each of the four sides: prunus (winter), peony (spring), lotus (summer), and chrysanthemum (autumn). The shoulder decorated with a pattern of butterflies, prunus flowers, and bamboo; a rock, peonies and two birds around the neck. Bases drilled. Approx. 13 3/4 by 4 1/4 in., 35 by 11 cm.
