A Rare Chinese Carved Dragon Qingbai Meiping Vase

17th/18th century, Kangxi or Yongzheng period, early Qing dynasty. A large meiping porcelain vase in the Song dynasty qingbai style, with a narrow foot on a tall slender body rising to high rounded shoulders with a narrow neck and curled lipped rim. Expressively carved to depict a three-clawed dragon flying amongst clouds over a ring of lappets around the foot, all under a translucent cool-toned glaze pooling in the recesses. With a later wooden stand. From a Montreal collection purchased in the 1970's from Hartman Galleries by repute. Approx. 11 1/4 by 5 in., 28.6 by 12.8 cm.
