A Pair of Famille Jaune Shen De Tang Zhi Dishes
19th century, Daoguang period, Qing dynasty. The pair of wide round bottom dishes on foot rings decorated with famille jaune overglaze enamels to depict four roundels with lake Tai rocks, peonies, and lingzhi fungi, surrounded by lotus meander and auspicious objects against a yellow ground. The exterior decorated with five iron red bats. Four character iron red "shen de tang zhi" or "hall of prudent virtue" marks to bases. The hall of prudent virtue was completed in 1831 during emperor Daoguang's reign. Approx. 1 7/8 by 8 7/8 in. diam., 4.8 by 22.5 cm. diam.
