A Chinese Ming Dynasty Cizhou Ding Censer
Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). The ceramic censer of bulbous form raised on four feet joined at the bottom by a shaped foot with a hexagonal rim and two raised handles, covered in a white glaze revealing the buff clay body around the foot and the interior. The exterior lively painted with brown and black to depict two birds amongst foliage-like sprays around the body and scrolls around the rim. Provenance: Ex-collection of Robert H. Ellsworth, previously sold at Skinner's Sale 2528B on December 3, 2010, lot #1087. Approx. 5 by 4 � in., 12.7 by 12 cm.
