19th century. A female incarnation of Avalokitesvara, she represents all the miracles of the Buddhas of the past, present, and future. The green form of Tara is one of positive energy with an infinite ability to save other beings. Here she is shown seated in lalitasana on a double lotus base, flanked by two lotus flowers, her left hand making the virtaka explanation mudra and her right hand making the varada gift giving mudra, each hand features a floral lozenge in the middle of her palms. She wears a scarf draped across her shoulders, ornate body jewelry, and a five-pendant diadem framing her tall chignon on her tilted head; a serene expression on her face.
