A Blue Snowflake Peking Glass Snuff Bottle
19th century, Qing dynasty. A snuff bottle with overlay black, white, and blue on blue snowflake Peking glass, resting on a raised oval foot. The body of flattened ovoid form, one side with a boy under a tree with a bat descending from heaven, the other side with a traveler on an ox, most likely as depiction of Lao Tzu, with an umbrella and a four character Qianlong mark in the background. The scenes signify blessings from above during one?s travels. With a light blue Peking glass topper, brass finial, collar and spoon. From the Christian Collection, Middleborough, MA.
