A Cizhou Yuhuchun Black Glazed Vase
Song Dynasty (960-1279). A pear shaped vase with a bulbous body and tapered neck with a rolled rim, rising up from a tall foot ring. Covered in a thick brown black glaze terminating in a line above the foot ring and decorated with plum blossom sprays in reserve, revealing a buff colored clay body. Provenance: Ex-collection of Robert H. Ellsworth, previously sold at Skinner's Sale 2528B on December 3, 2010, lot #1095. Approx. 7 7/8 by 4 � in., 20 by 11.5 cm.
