Tang Luming (1804-1874), Plum and Pine
19th century, Tongzhi reign, Qing dynasty. Ink and color on paper, album leaf. Tang Luming was an official and painter who specialized in flowers. This album leaf depicts a blossoming plum branch alongside a pine bough. Inscription to left states it was painted during a winter of the Tongzhi period (1856-1875). Beside the inscriptions on the left is his seal of "painted by Lemin (his style name)". Provenance: From the collection of Cecelia Chiang. Approx. 11 by 13 1/2 in., 28 by 34.3 cm.
