A Chinese Archaic Mountain Form Censer, Boshanlu

The censer with a hemispherical bowl raised on a stem foot, the conical cover cast in openwork as a cloud-covered mountain, the cover with malachite and azurite encrustation. Provenance: From the collection of a prominent American military official stationed in Singapore in the mid 20th Century. Literature: At Home Singapore Style : distinctive interiors & decorating sources, American Women's Association of Singapore, 1994. Exhibited: College of William & Mary, Exhibition of Chinese Bronze Art held by the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Department, 2000. Approx. 4 3/8 by 2 1/4 in. diam., 11 by 5.6 cm. diam.
