An African Carved Wood Mask, Dan People

Liberia and Cote d'Ivoire. A hand carved wooden mask with anthropomorphic features, a red band is painted over the eyes, the headdress consists of cowrie shells, and the beak has a red fabric border with attached hair, a fabric band attached at each end of the headdress. Approx. 15 1/4 by 9 1/2 in., 38.6 by 24 cm.
