A Chinese Ceramic Ritual Ding Food Vessel & Cover

Han dynasty (206 BC-220 AD). A plain spherical vessel supported on three high cabriole legs, with a pair of applied handles beneath the high domed cover with top ring, the exterior covered with red slip. Provenance: From the collection of a prominent American military official stationed in Singapore in the mid-20th century. Literature: At Home Singapore Style: distinctive interiors & decorating sources, American Women's Association of Singapore, 1994. Exhibited: College of William & Mary, Exhibition of Chinese Bronze Art held by the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Department, 2000. Approx. 4 1/2 by 8 in., 11.5 by 20.3 cm.
