Anonymous, 19th Century Painting of Guanyin
19th century, Qing dynasty. Ink and color on silk, un-mounted hanging scroll with silk border. The bodhisattva of mercy, Guanyin, stands barefoot wearing a fluttering white robe, beneath bamboo stalks next to a riverbank with a tortoise-like creature emerging from crashing waves. Mounted in silk brocade borders. Approx. 25 5/8 by 16 in., 65 by 45.6 cm.
