17th century, late Ming or early Qing dynasty. Ink, color, and gilding on paper, fan leaf mounted on silk. It depicts two seated scholars in discussion among bronze vessels, with an attendant nearby, making tea on a stove. Chen Hongshou was a famous painter and poet during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. With his signature and seal to upper left. Approx. 6 by 18 in., 15.2 by 45.8 cm.
