A Korean Choson Iron Manjushri Bodhisattva

14th century, Choson Dynasty. Manjushri, a bodhisattva accompanying the Shakyamuni Buddha represents the wisdom and realization of all Buddhas, sitting in the lotus position with Lamaist styling to the crown and jewelry, the hands display the harina and jnana mudras of the lion and wisdom respectively, with a bird sitting on a lotus stem behind the left hand, with traces of gilding. Approx. 8 by 4 1/2 in., 20.3 by 11.5 cm.
