Han Dynasty (206 BC- 220 AD). The circular astronomical mirror of silvered bronze, set to the center within a sunken octofoil is a central pierced knob encircled by twelve flat discs within a hatched border, the outer field cast with a band of archaic characters within hatched border below the plain rim. Partial translation of inscription mentions feasting, living in peace, not needing to worry about the owner, and being happy forever. Provenance: From the collection of a prominent American military official stationed in Singapore in the mid-20th century.
