A Chinese White Jade Baluster Vase with Stand, Qianlong Period

18th century, Qianlong period, Qing dynasty. The tall white jade baluster vase with opposing archaistic chilong dragon handles at the narrowed neck, on a tall flaring foot ring, decorated in low relief to depict interlocking cloud scroll around body, cloud and ruyi-head border around the base of the neck, a curved archaistic band around neck below a band of bosses, white semi-translucent jade, on a dark carved hardwood stand. From a Montreal Collection, acquired in the 1960's. Without stand approx. 6 7/8 by 2 1/8 in., 17.5 by 5.5 cm.
