A Chinese White Jade Duck Censer with Stand, 18th Century
18th century, Qing dynasty. The censer carved into the form of a duck standing on two webbed feet, head raised with mouth open to show its tongue, tail and wing feathers finely cared in detail with pierced areas within the wings, the base consisting of the lower half of the body and legs, the lid consisting of the upper body including the wings and tail, smoothly carved and polished interior, the stone semi-translucent white jade with areas of opaque inclusions, with carved wooden stand. From a Montreal Collection, acquired in the 1960's. Without stand approx. 4 1/4 by 6 in., 10.9 by 5.2 cm.
