A Bronze "Birds and Flowers" Octalobed Mirror, Tang Dynasty
Tang dynasty (618-907). Cast in relief to depict a bird in flight with a ribbon in its mouth above two mirrored perched phoenixes around a central pierced knob, the raised border cast with florets, insects, and lingzhi-shaped clouds within its octalobed border. Approx. 5 1/2 in., 14 cm.
