A Chinese Dated Bronze Mirror, Song Dynasty

Song dynasty (960-1279). Dating to the wuyin year (978, 1038, 1098, 1158, 1218 or 1278) during the Song dynasty, the circular form mirror cast with "wuyin nian zhi" or "made during the wuyin year" around a circular pierced knob. Provenance: From the collection of a prominent American military official stationed in Singapore in the mid-20th century. Literature: At Home Singapore Style: distinctive interiors & decorating sources, American Women's Association of Singapore, 1994. Exhibited: College of William & Mary, Exhibition of Chinese Bronze Art held by the Asian and Middle Eastern Studies Department, 2000. Approx. 5 5/8 in. diam., 14.3 cm. diam.
