A Chinese Woman's Silk Embroidered Robe

19th century, Qing dynasty. A woman's semi-formal winter robe of padded cream silk damask with embroidered lingzhi-shaped panels along the neck and edges with depictions of peacocks, butterflies, pagodas and flowers in blue, purple, black and gold thread. Dragons and phoenixes are depicted on rectangular shaped embroidered panels on the cuffs. With five loop and treble gold floral ball button closures and a light blue silk lining. Approx. 39 by 50 in., 99 by 127 cm.
