18th century, Qing dynasty. The black silk robe with brocade dragon roundels and couched gold embroidery of dragons amidst clouds around collar, shoulders, cuffs, and border near lower edge, with bright blue silk lining. Provenance: From the collection of a prominent American military official stationed in Singapore in the mid-20th Century.
