A Women's Silk Imperial Knot Forbidden Stitch Embroidered Surcoat

Late 19th/early 20th century, Qing dynasty. A dark blue women?s silk surcoat embroidered front and back with peonies and butterflies in both the imperial forbidden knot and satin stitch using pink and blue silk thread. Satin stich floral border in blues and creams around central and lower edges, sleeves trimmed in yellow silk with forbidden knot peonies and satin stitched phoenixes. Light blue silk interior. Approx. 39 by 56 in., 99 by 142 cm.
