A Woman's Gold and Silver Rank Badge on Mirror
Late 19th century, Qing dynasty. A woman?s second rank badge with gold and silver couched threads on a dark blue silk ground to depict a golden pheasant over lishui (deep water) and beneath a parasol, surrounded by lingzhi shaped clouds, a moon, bats, knots and flowers, surrounded by a border of floral meander. The rank badge mounted in a frame above a framed mirror. Rank badge approx. 11 3/4 by 12 1/4 in, 30 by 31.2 cm., including frame and mirror approx. 42 by 14 1/4 in., 106.7 by 36.3 cm.
